By law, charities, religious organizations and non-profit community organizations must have a Charitable Bingo Lottery Licence to run a series of bingo games with total yearly prizes over $30,000 or a single bingo game with total prizes over $2,500.
You can apply for a Charitable Bingo Lottery Licence for:
- 3-year term (series licence for total yearly prizes over $30,000)
- single event (single licence for total prizes over $2,500)
Reporting requirements
With a Charitable Bingo Lottery Licence, you need to submit a Bingo Financial Report for a series of bingo games with total yearly prizes over $30,000 or a single bingo game with total prizes over $2,500.
Bingo equipment
All bingo equipment (including paper) needs to be supplied by an individual or organization licensed under the Bingo Suppliers Regulations.
Bingo equipment includes:
- random number selection equipment
- bingo balls
- number display boards
- bingo cards, paper and sets
- verification books or electronic verifiers
Eligibility
You need to be 19 or older and authorized by the charity, religious organization or non-profit community organization to apply.
You need to submit your application at least 15 business days before your first event.
How to apply
- Complete the application form.
- Check the application for details on all required supporting documents.
- Include payment with your application.
- Send your completed application, supporting documents and payment by mail, email or fax. Or visit the Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division.
- You may also need to complete an interview and provide additional information if asked by the Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division.
How long it takes
It should take 2 weeks to get the licence. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your application hasn’t been filled in correctly.

You also need to pay a fee when you submit the Bingo Financial Report.

Application form
Renewal
You need to renew your Charitable Bingo Lottery Licence (series) every 3 years. You should get a renewal notice in the mail before the renewal date. It’s your responsibility to renew on time.
You can’t renew your Charitable Bingo Lottery Licence (single), but you can apply for a new one.
