Notice of officers and directors for a society

Societies need to file and change the officer or director information with Registry of Joint Stock Companies. You need to notify Registry of Joint Stock Companies of any changes to the directors and officers.

Use the Change Directors/Officers Form to file or change the officer or director information for your society.

You need to notify Registry of Joint Stock Companies of any changes to the directors and officers within 14 days of the change. You can also update Registry of Joint Stock Companies of changes to the officers or directors during the annual renewal.

The number of directors and officers on the form needs to match the number of directors and officers in your by-laws.

What you need to do

  1. Complete the Change Directors/Officers Form online.
  2. Within 14 days of the change, submit your completed form.
  3. Registry of Joint Stock Companies updates your records.

How long it takes

It should take 1 to 2 weeks to update your records. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your form hasn’t been filled in correctly.

Cost

There is no cost to submit the form.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • full legal name of the society as it’s registered with Registry of Joint Stock Companies
  • full name of each director and officer
  • complete mailing address of each director and officer
  • occupation of each director and officer

You can use the Notice of Directors and Officers Form (PDF 1.2 MB) if you’re unable to file online. A director or officer of the society needs to complete the form. Send your completed form by mail. Or drop it off at Registry of Joint Stock Companies or Access Nova Scotia.
