Multiple Tenants Policy: Residential Tenancies
The Multiple Tenants Policy (Policy 20) explains that each tenant whose name is on a lease is equally responsible for all the obligations of that lease, including paying rent, following the rules and paying for any damage.
This policy describes how multiple tenants sharing the same rental unit are equally responsible for the obligations of the lease if their name is on the lease. The policy also describes the actions that may be taken against any or all tenants if they fail to meet the obligations of the lease.
If action is taken against 1 tenant, that tenant can go to Small Claims Court to get money from the other tenants.
