Use the Rebate Application Form to apply for a rebate to modify a computer for use by a person with physical, vision or hearing impairments or mental challenges. You can receive up to $375 if you qualify for the rebate.

Rebate amount

The rebate is equal to the provincial portion of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) paid on a computer bought by or for a person with physical, vision or hearing impairments or mental challenges. The rebate only covers the tax paid on computer hardware, not software.

Eligibility

You can apply for the rebate if you bought a computer for use by a person with physical, vision or hearing impairments or mental challenges (this can include yourself).

You need to apply within 24 months of the date you bought the computer.

How to apply

  1. Complete the rebate application.
  2. Check the application for details on all required supporting documents.
  3. Send your completed application and supporting documents by mail. Or visit the Business Registration Unit.

How long it takes

It should take 3 to 6 weeks to get the rebate. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your application hasn’t been filled in correctly.

Cost

There is no cost to apply for the rebate.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • copy of the bill of sale or sales invoice for the computer
  • certificate signed by a medical professional to confirm that the computer user is disabled
