State of emergency: wildfires
A state of emergency is in effect in response to safety issues posed by dry conditions causing wildfires across the province.
The Government of Nova Scotia declared a state of emergency on 1 June 2023 in response to safety issues posed by dry conditions causing wildfires across the province. The state of emergency lasts until 27 July 2023 and can be renewed.
The state of emergency helps protect the community of Windsor and keep residents safe in the event of a fire and instructs the operators of the sleway connected to Lake Pisiquid to close the gates to maximize the water supply available for wildfire suppression efforts.
