Renew a Mortgage Brokerage Licence, Associate Mortgage Broker Licence and Mortgage Broker Licence

Mortgage brokerages need to renew their licence and pay a renewal fee each year they continue to operate. Renewal is due by 31 October each year.

You need a Mortgage Brokerage Licence to employ mortgage brokers and associate mortgage brokers to act as an intermediary between a borrower and lender for a mortgage. Mortgage brokerages also need a licence to do business in Nova Scotia.

When you renew a Mortgage Brokerage Licence, you can also renew the licences of your employed mortgage brokers and associate mortgage brokers.

The Business Licensing Section sends the principal broker a renewal notice by email before the renewal date. It’s your responsibility to renew on time.
