Your registration is valid as long as you have a Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence. You use your Driver’s Licence to get the tax off your fuel purchases. You can swipe, scan or key in your licence master number into the terminal at registered service stations on reserves, and the provincial fuel tax will be taken off the sale.

You need to be a status Indian with a Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence to register with the program.

How to apply

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Send your completed application by mail. Or visit Audit and Enforcement.
  3. Once your application is approved, you can swipe, scan or key in your licence master number into the terminal at registered service stations on reserves to avoid paying the provincial fuel tax.

How long it takes

It should take 1 to 2 weeks to get registered with the program. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your application hasn’t been filled in correctly.

There is no cost to register.
