Green Municipal Funds
What Green Municipal Funds loans are and how the program works.
The Department of Finance and Treasury Board administers the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Green Municipal Funds loans on behalf of municipalities to facilitate access to low-cost funding.
Legislation restricts where municipalities can borrow. Under the Municipal Government Act, municipalities can only borrow from the provincial government and its agencies, federal government and its agencies or another municipality.
Borrowing from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Green Municipal Funds is subject to the same legislative and approval processes as all other debentures issued by the provincial government.
