Apply for funding to buy capital assets for fixed route transit services run by municipalities and community organizations: Public Transit Assistance Program
Municipalities and community organizations can apply for funding from the Public Transportation Assistance Program (PTAP) to buy capital assets, like vehicles, for fixed route transit services they run. The funding is not for offsetting the cost of operating the transit service. You can apply until 26 April 2024 for 2024 to 2025 program funding.
Apply for funding to buy capital assets like vehicles, bus terminals and shelters.
Funding is for capital purchases that support the long-term sustainability of the public transit service. Alternatively, the funds can be placed in a capital reserve until they’re required. The funding is not for offsetting the cost of operating the transit service.
Funding approval is subject to annual budget approval. Funding might be reduced or pro-rated depending on the total new funding requests.
Grant calculation
Funding is based on the total annual ridership and the population of the service area (for example, the number of people within 1 km of a bus stop). Contact the program administrator to get an estimate of funding availability.
