Donna MacDonald

Donna MacDonald was appointed Associate Deputy Minister of Communications Nova Scotia (CNS) in May 2019.


Donna has 29 years of experience in public service, primarily in communications working with almost every government department. She recently led policy and stakeholder relations in the Deputy Minister’s office at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and focused on building relationships with education partners. Before that, she was the first Managing Director at Communications Nova Scotia.

After growing up in Cape Breton, Donna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Acadia University, and a Bachelor of Public Relations at Mount Saint Vincent University.

The associate deputy minister manages Communications Nova Scotia’s day-to-day operations, carries out government policies and implements decisions made by the minister, CEO and the Executive Council.
