Jason Hollett
Jason Hollett was appointed Deputy Minister of the Department Fisheries and Aquaculture in October 2023.
Biography
Jason has more than 15 years of public service experience. He has held several senior roles with the Government of Nova Scotia, including leading policy work on climate change and energy issues. Jason also has a background in community economic development and education.
Jason has a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University and a Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University.

Deputy Minister, Department of Department Fisheries and Aquaculture
The Deputy Minister of the Department Fisheries and Aquaculture provides direction and leadership on policy development. They oversee day-to-day operations for the department. The deputy minister also monitors the ongoing performance improvement of departmental operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- overseeing day-to-day operations of the department
- implementing the department’s mandate and making sure the department meets its goals
- providing advice and recommendations to the minister
- overseeing corporate policy, planning and services
- providing leadership to the department’s senior team
